The 20th Century

- With changing times came...
Private cottages on Upper Baker Pond
- Summer camps on Upper and Lower Baker Pond
- Inns with rooms and dining for tourists
- A decline in population — nearly down to the population in 1795
- 1926
- Orford High School established - used the Academy building
- 1938
- Samuel Morey Memorial bridge replaced the covered bridge across the Connecticut River
- 1950s
- Quinttown had only one resident - Billy Brown
- 1958
- Orford School expands with the addition of Memorial Hall
- 1973
- Orford resident, Meldrim Thomson, Jr. became the 91st Governor of New Hampshire
- 1977
- Orford Street Historic District is named to the National Register of Historic Places
- 1996
- Orford Historical Society is founded
- 1997
- Friends of the Orford Libraries is formed
- 1998
- Orford's population grew to over 1,000
- Rivendell Interstate School District is established - linking Orford to three Vermont towns with the first K-12 inter-state school district in the United States
